Have the most cams out then had last year (1). Set trying to get fisher pics. Have out a commercial cam (to compare) a W50, S40 and S600.
Don't faint everyone.

Here I opened this expecting to see that you hacked a camera.

I don't have any out right now.  Going to be logging going on in my neck of the woods so pulled all cams just in case.

I did...kinda. Had to solder some thicker wires onto the hack wires to fit easier into the board terminals.

Jim, my buddy has Cuddiebacks, SpyPoints, Moultrie and Wildgame think is all he has. I wasn't going to go that much for say one of the wireless units but just a cheap one to compare. Got the Wildgame Terra Extreme. Only $50.00 so seeing how one of the cheapies do. At least specifications seem good but we all know how that goes.

Jon, How about posting some photos from your commercial camera when you get them. I've got about 15 commercial units now: Browning Strike Force Elite, Special Ops and Recon Force and Bushnell Trophy Cam HD Aggressor -- all used for video. The Recon Forces and Bushnells produce the best images. I'm still using my homebrews, but the cameras in the units are gradually wearing out; I've been replacing the cameras with some from my stockpile but won't be buying any more old point-and-shoots or building any more homebrews.

My first camera trap was an old Moultrie which worked well but the images were sorely lacking in quality. So, I switched to homebrews and got some really good photos, but now some commercial units produce videos every bit as good as my video homebrews.

Woody, not planning on checking them till end of April...if I can wait that long. I know pics. on the boxes they come in vary but these looked pretty good. My buddy I bought mine at his shop is going to the wireless ones I guess. I'm not going to go that route.
Still thinking of getting out a FS-15 but unsure.
They're opening otter in my zone next season so have to get some out at 2 places figure they are as others have seen them.

I'm sitting here with 17 ready to go.....this quarantine thingy gave me time to fix up some old ones and build a few new ones. I got one of Ralph's boards with a GoPro in it made up too. The hack on them is so simple it almost feels like cheating.....

I get my stuff shipped to a guy south of the border in ND and then run down and pick it up, with the border closed now I have 3 packages sitting there. I could have another 2-3 up and running if I could get down there.

I know on the GoPro. Have it here and just have actually get the iron out to do it, 1/2 hr. max from opening to putting back together. Ralph (and others) have heard me say going to do it but procrastinate. Since getting back late season for trapping for beaver but planning on mink, fisher and now otter for  next season just interested in setting cams in places figure they'll be just to see.

I hear yuh... I had two GoPro builds for the past few years. Now I have 6 of them. I really like pairing them with the homebrews that I have built that only take still pics. I really like the GoPro’s ... and you are right so easy to hack and make up a build. There is lots of people who have them now. Some people make their own and others have had other builders make them ..

Gonna pull the S40 that's about 100 yards away probably in a couple days. Had about 600 pics in almost 3 weeks on the Terra Extreme...don't buy one. Will say some of the problem may have been being about 7'-8' away. All but about 40 were infrared. Crows took 2 weeks to find it. Flying squirrels were there a lot. Rest were of the fisher eating except maybe 20 in daylight so color and other color ones were of the crows. Will say it was set under pines so only some of crows were more or less in sunlight and those I was happy with and fisher pics were dark and just had the commercial cam look if you know what I mean. S40 is set about 100 yards away in same swath of pines, about same level and height  and same distance away from another beaver carcass(?). Once pull it will show comparison. Yesterday though beaver looked about same as the commercial cams one did from close to a week ago so may let it go a bit longer.
