Second time this winter we have snow here in the deep south. Not as much as we had several weeks ago but a lot colder this time, this morning the temp was 12 degrees with wind chill of -2. What is going on? This isn't the Mississippi I grew up in. Monday was in the mid 60s so Marilyn and I went to the lake for an afternoon of fishing and Tuesday was in the 20s all day and we got this. Barely getting above freezing today and by Saturday it will be back in the 60s and pushing 70 by Sunday.

Ralph, Here we'd call that a dusting of snow and where our son and his family live 12 might feel positively balmy. Maybe you should start working on an ice fishing shanty. But I guess when you live down there close to the Equator you don't have much chance to get used to cooler weather.

Yeah Woody, it might be a dusting in other parts but down here this is almost blizzard conditions. LOL We don't get this sort of thing very often and we definitely aren't used to temps being this cold. Think I will leave the ice fishing to the guys up north.

Ralph do you guys even have furnaces down there?  That's a heat wave here!  I'm running the AC, much more efficient to cool 22 degree air!

We do have central heat and it has been working overtime but then in the summer, the a/c has to work overtime when we get in the upper 90s and above 100 with high humidity. Can't win for losing I guess. LOL

Charles, I wish you and Ken would quit feeling like you have to share so much, I can do without this sort of fun.

I feel so sorry for you...NOT!
Did you go out and buy a snowblower yet??
What's your record for snow for a year? Ours I guess officially is 149" and we are right at the 140" mark with about 2.5 more months to go.

We wouldn't even bother cleaning that small amount off the vehicle [smile]

No snowblower Jon and I think this year is our record at around 7 inches. For this part of the country that is a bunch.

I didn't worry about cleaning it off my truck, just started it and waited for the heater to thaw the windshield and then drove down the road to blow it off. Looked like a snowblower going down the road with the snow coming out of the bed of the truck. [biggrin]

I've been out fishing. Check out the frost on my coat and frozen beard. Looks tropical where you're at Ralph. LOL

Did get a limit and my biggest walleye through the ice.

Dang Frankie, that is a good mess of walleye. Congrats on the big 'un. [thumb]

You may say it looks tropical compared to where you are at but it still sucks. Things down here aren't normally set up to handle such cold so there are always plenty of water pipes that end of burst due to freezing. I spent the entire day yesterday helping my next door neighbor track down and repair burst pipes under his house and we still didn't get them all repaired. Ended up just capping off a couple of pipes that go to the bathtub in the master bathroom and will deal with those at another time.

I understand. I hope it warms up quick for you guys down there. Good luck with pipe repairs. It will be easier to work on if it warms up. It can be uncomfortable working outside in extreme cold. Especially unloved hands.
