Since Nanook of the North (Darrell [biggrin] ) got those great fox pictures it got me to wondeering where you usually find your fox dens. I know it will vary with area. 2 years ago the dens I found were on a gentle slope in the evergreens. Last year they weren't touched but new ones opened about 100 yards to the side just outside the evergreens in some small saplings right at the edge of a hill climb (off roaders used to run ralleys here) but it isn't being used this year either.
Got me wondering (after looking all over today for dens) where you've come across them. Also along that line is what is the diameter hole you usually find? Ones I had found I wouldn't have thought an adult fox could fit in, they were maybe 7"-8" diameter.
Inquiring minds want to know...and also get some pictures to rival the Great Canuck Darrell.

Not anymore, put on weight...up to 131# I think. [rofl]
Thanks on the diameter of the den entrance. Always wondered as couldn't see how a fox could get down that small of one...I'd freak from claustrophobia![eek]

My neighbor just followed the trail dead ducks an chickens back to a den behind their house....
Any dens I find have ground hogs or cats living in them, but then I don't cover the ground I used to.
