So, few weeks ago was fortunate for a few of us to shoot some geese.  So, I had geese carcases.  What better opportunity to win a trail cam photo contest right??
Went and picked up the cam yesterday.  Geese bones strewn about, obviously something had been there.  Was some faded tracks in the snow that I convinced myself was a fisher.

Got home and put the memory stick in the computer and walked away, couldn't take the suspense.  Came back 5 minutes later to see what had been downloaded.  Like Christmas morning as a 6 year old I tell ya!

Nothing!  Not one picture!  I went into that memory stick 3 different times from 3 different ways on that computer.  Go over and look at the camera.

I had the camera on "Review" mode.

%$#$%^&^%$!!

I hate that...I done that more than once! Also walked a couple miles to check a camera only to realize that I forgot my python lock keys.

Yup, we've all done that -- and forgotten the keys, and forgotten to turn the board on, and forgotten to put in a memory stick, and ...

Try the same spot with some other bait: road-killed squirrel, a chicken or turkey carcass from a roaster, the fat trimmings from a pack of chicken breasts, or go to the grocery store and buy the cheapest meat you can get (turkey legs, wings, beef suet) and put that out. If a predator has gotten an easy meal it will probably come back repeatedly to check the spot.

Chris, Woody kinda beat me to it. Was going to say if wanted to try something else along with a bait to maybe more or less target a fisher then look for a pine belt or strip of them. Seems I find most of my fisher tracks going through them, at least seems to be a corridor for their travels up here. Try either a lure specifically designed for fisher (REAL stinky so be careful) or a mink gland lure. Skunk essence could also be used. Stinky seems to be a key. Waiting now (haven't had a cam out since second week of Sept. think) to see if get some road kill deer at my buddies place and then get them back to the woods and set on them. One thing I found on that though is I set a night only cam as during the day got hundreds of turkey vultures and crow pictures. Night time got (on couple different ones) coyote, red and grey fox, possum along with a fisher on one about 100 yards outside the strip of pines they seem to run (fisher that is).

Better believe it. I have my name pinned to my shirt so each morning I'll remember who I am!

Well, I went and done it this time.  Got one goose a week ago.  Took the remains out to the same spot.  Cam ready, left it all as it should be on Saturday.  Came back on Thursday, most of the goose was still there, although it was obviously eaten on by something.  My curiosity got the better of me.  I took the cam, thinking I would just be back tomorrow.  185 pics of raccoons.

I didn't get back until Sunday.  There was no goose left, just a little bit of the head and a wing.  I did put the camera up again, but man.....WHAT AN IDIOT I AM!

I knew when I was doing it that it was the wrong thing to do.  Should just leave it alone and come back in another week.  But NOOOOO, I was too impatient.
