If anyone remembers I have been down this road before.  This is my biggest concern is making the other board people mad.  This sight will always be independent and would never put any pressure on the board makers.

I haven't been in this long enough to know that.  I believe you could do it, I question whether it's worth it.  And only you can decide that.

I asked for everyones input.  You can pm me about this.  Don`t sugar coat it.  I want to know how you feel.  I am a big boy.  If you are going to be rough please send a pm and not on the open forum.

If that was directed for me, I've already said my concerns (or what they would be if I was in your shoes).  What I would be weighing if it was my opportunity.

It's not going to matter to me which way you decide.

I think Gary and Ralph are the guys you should discuss this with to make the final decision. Honestly, they are the only ones who would be directly affected. I'm fine either way, it has no affect on me regardless of the outcome. I'd like to have the option to purchase Jim's products, but I won't lose any sleep if they stay discontinued.

I think the only product of Jim's that's not essentially a duplicate of Gary and Ralph's (in function if not in size and battery type) was the Day/Night Switch Board that I'm using for something other than a slave. Like everyone's said, it was nice to have Jim's boards but we can all live without them.

I now have 18 builds and anticipate doing two or three more, so I'm almost done (maybe) buying boards unless I have to replace one. How many other folks are finished or almost finished buying boards? The consensus seems to be that there are fewer homebrewers than there used to be, so the market may be really limited going forward. If that's the case, Gary and Ralph may have trouble keeping at it much less another supplier too. Did Yetis disappear because the market was drying up, or did he have another reason to go out of business?

OK...Let's make this decision easy...MY STUFF WILL NOT BE SOLD OR SENT TO ANYONE NOW!!!  I never got into the board business because I wanted too.  I started making boards because I needed some boards to do some things that the existing boards did not do.  I went to Gary and Chris (who owned BigFoot at that time) and neither wanted to develop anything new at all.  So I took it upon myself to design my own stuff.  At the time I was building around 20 camera units a month for a lot of federal agencies as well as some National Geographer Photographers.  I did not get into this business to take business away from Gary.  Ralph was not even in business when all this started.  And now Gary and Ralph both make excellent products that should do anything you guys want to do.  There simply isnt enough business out there to fool with this anymore.  I sold my 24' BBQ trailer and have a new 30' BBQ trailer on the way.  This was a huge monetary investment for me and my wife and I feel I should dedicate 100% of my off time from the fire station to doing this bbq business.  I honestly don't think you guys can imagine how much time goes into developing these boards and programs and testing all this stuff.  I have lots of hours in my stuff I know....The only product I have that would benefit the homebrew community that no one else has is the Remote Slave Controller Board I released a few months ago.  I will gladly give (FREE OF CHARGE) someone the Gerber Files and the Program for it if someone else wants to offer it to the homebrew community.  Other than that board the CritterGetter Boards DIED TODAY!!!  I would like to thank everyone who done business with me and bought my products.  I will still service anything I have SOLD.  I am not disappearing...I will still be around and I will continue to build cameras for myself and a few friends.  For the ones of you who are glad I am gone (and you know who you are as well as I do) maybe you will be happy now...and to the ones who supported me and liked my products I am sorry for having to leave the business but for me and my family it's something I have to do.  GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.......

Maybe I should keep quiet but that's never been something my big mouth decides to do.
Let's keep it civil. A question was asked and responses maybe should have been phrased different. I think all board manufacturers over the years have had their followers and there's been an application of some sort for each one. Personally I liked the Yeti. Maybe because it was the first one I ever used (same as the S40). Is it the best one? Is it the one you prefer? Probably not. Mark left for a reason and unfortunately his board left with him. Jim now has a reason and family I feel is more important then any of our toys.
Thanks Jim.

The name of our BBQ is Fully Involved N' Smokin'... We compete on the KCBS Circuit. We cook about 25 competitions a year. Last year we finished in the top 20 out of 4967 teams in the points standings. We set up and sale bbq once or twice a week here in Winchester TN. I also have a 15 year old son who keeps us pretty busy too.

Very cool!  Looks like there are a few that aren't too far from me.  You are a busy guy.  I've got a 15 yo and 13 yo at home and I can barely make a camera let alone run two businesses.

So I have an idea to keep you in the homebrew field Jim.  You host camfests and have your BBQ business open.  I'd come to that if you have some brisket.  Hard to find good brisket in NE Ohio.  Good luck in the BBQ business!!
