Make that a chipmunk and you got it at my place!  That's a funny one.

Only a few chippies have got up the feeder but for the most part they leave it alone. The 4 red squirrels this year I've seen (but will no longer see [angel] ) and the 23 from last year were emptying it every day. The starlings and blue jays are bad enough now flinging seed all over the place. Found out the black sunflower seeds or whatever they are really attracts everything.

Black oil sunflower I think.  I have Grackles that figured out how to distribute everything on the ground.  They 'land hard' spilling a bunch, then they will shake teh whole thing while on there and distribute a bunch on the ground too.

Yep. Mine seem to sit there just spooning everything out with their bill.
Have had chipmunks in the feeder a few times and they're usually on the ground but just lately they found a way up. Not real upset about them though since no more red squirrels!! Oh wait, there's a stinkin red squirrel going up the tripod underneath the metal flashing and through a 4" hole and jumping onto the feeder!! Well going to scare the beejeebees out of him and set a mouse trap with a larger covering over the trap part itself so when he trips it it'll just make him fall off.
