Going to hike the Chuck Keiper Trail, hike the east loop, 22+ miles. Since is in same area where had the rattlesnakes near me and no cell reception and hardly see anybody decided to get a personal locator beacon, ACR ResQLink+. Supposed to test it so called ACR to make sure I was testing it right without activating it and they walked me thru it and the test went good. Got to my buddys later and he wanted to see so showed the same way. 10 min. later my cell phone went off.
me: Hello?
them: Is this Jon LeVan?
me: Yes.
them: This is the United States Air Force Search and Rescue Center. We have a sattalite showing your beacon is going off....
me: uh, oh, oops.......
Guess I can highly recommend the ACR ResQLink+!!!

Good luck and have fun on your hike Jon....keep us posted. Sometime this summer I plan on hiking the Lost Turkey Trail  nearby here that is about 26 miles through the mountains of Somerset, Bedford and Blair counties. The personal locator  beacon sounds like a great idea!
