This is by no means the only boards/reason/etc. to do this but I was asked a question and maybe this can help some.
This is how I do my hack wires so others may do it different. I know a few things I have left out the more experienced guys use/do but this is not meant to confuse newbs (and I'm one of them).
I have only used the Yeti (no longer available) and the aio boards for the fast hack (have used Safari but was a proto type and a while ago so Ralph could chime in too) and never used one so don't know if the Critter Getter does (maybe Jim can chime in too). The only cameras I've used for the fast hack have been the Sony S40 and Sony S600. Don't know if there are other ones but these are the only two I'm aware of.
Most know the difference and reasons for the fast hack vs. the reg. hack, lens partially extended to make the camera a bit faster and less noise of lens extending.
Question was from never used a fast hack why getting some of the problems when using the aio board they never encountered.
The reg. hack does not use a lens wire (only power, common and shutter) so works basically like it would before the hack, turn on, lens extends (without the error message a fast have gives).
The fast hack uses a power wire, common wire, shutter wire AND a lens wire. Using these wires if you turn the camera on you get the famous "Turn the power off and on again". To not get this error message you need to either jump the connection between the lens and common wires. Some just jumper where the screws hold the wire into the terminal block (I use a bent paper clip) or twisting the wires together (this way can take out of the cam and use as a handheld).
Pic. 1 shows the lens partially extended using the fast hack when it is off.
Pic. 2 is the aio board and spots for the fast hack connections (don't worry about E and C, these are used for something different so are empty for this). NOTE if just doing a regular hack the Lens wire is not used and the lens will fully retract and be a bit noisier and slightly slower then the fast hack.
On the Yeti board, just because some guys still have them or get cameras using them, the connections will be (left to right with the block on the bottom of the board assuming using one with the controls on top) are power, common, shutter and lens.
The coding in the chip will control these. I have on the Yeti used a S40 chip on the S600 and while not the right one it will still operate it.

Again this is by no means complete and I know guys do things differently plus some ways to make it so can switch between the regular and fast hacks without having to reopen the camera but this was basically to answer a question that I (and we) sometimes assume is automatically understood.

The fast hack is about .5 seconds faster.  The lens stays out so there is less lens movement.  With l4ess lens movement it is quieter.  If you have a fast hack and want to use it as a regular hack just tie the lens cover switch wire to common and it will work as a regular hack.  Now if the board was programmed for a fast hack it may not work with a fast hack camera.  Depends on programming.  Does anyone have any other questions on this.

The CritterGetter Boards will support the fast hacked cmaeras. The Fast Hack makes the camera 2/10ths of a second faster but much much quieter...

Thanks Jim. Knew Ralph had a fast hack stack on board but couldn't remember on yours. more options.

The Bigfoot board has a fast hack option too -- I have several in S40 builds and they work great.
