Since building my first basic control board (sharp shooter) I decided to add some things for a video only board. This board will basically do everything except a slave flash. It will still run digital cameras and fast hacks. But it was mainly designed for video only. I got tired of wiring and hooking up a control board and other misc. boards for arrays, mics, exchangers etc. so I designed this.

This board is run off of the 18m2 picaxe chip and has the following:

voltage regulator
camera circuit
pir circuit
cds circuit
exchanger circuit
array circuit
mic circuit
2 spare mosfets
3 dip switches for programming code
header for programming cable

Basically all you have to do is plug in your camera, array, mic, and exchanger and your ready to go. I run my boards off of a 6v SLA but since it has the voltage regulator on the board you could also power your build with 12V.

I am really pleased with how this board turned out. I have tested everything except the mic but I will probablly mess with the mic tomorrow to make sure it works. Now to put it in a build! good excuse to build another one [smile]

No not as of now. I built these for my own satisfaction but if there is a need or big interest maybe. I may put in another order to the fabricator to get some more boards and if I do I might send some people blank boards that they can populate to help me test it. there is some testing that should be done but so far it is working good for me on the bench.

I have finished the coding for the board and I believe it is working 100% now. I have put together a build with a SJ1000, eagle eye video board, BF array, and ebay spy mic all running off of a 6volt sla except for the sj1000 of course. I originally had an exchanger on the sj1000 but I have had a hard time finding the right exchanger/ lens or lens combination. When the exchanger was installed I used my code for the board and the exchanger worked flawlessly. It is programmed to only switch twice a day. Currently I do not have an exchanger installed I am using a lens that I robbed out of an old commercial cam. I have attached a couple videos below to show that the array and mic is working good with the board. Do not pay attention to the video quality or content because I am not done playing with lenses and exchangers. This are just some quick clips to show that the board is working great. Also I live aobut 1000 yards away from a park and they were having baseball games going on as you can tell from the videos.

I have added a pot to the board for the PIR as mentioned before and I have also used one of the spare mosfetts to turn on/off the power to the exchanger chip so it does not stay on all the time and waste power.

I should receive some new boards in a couple days but these boards do not have the exchanger mosfett edit done to them because I sent them off to be fabricated before I made the change. However this change/mod is very easy to do with installing one jumper and cutting one trace.

I have a couple people that are helping me test the board but if anyone is interested let me know and I can get some boards sent to you

What is the battery life on these boards.  What regulator are you using.

I can`t find the regulator or the exchanger chip.  Where did you get them from.

I got both of them from mouser. Not sure about the battery life I use big SLA batteries for my builds so hard to tell.
If you want you can omit the regulator and add a couple jumpers and it will work with out regulator. Just make sure you don't go above 5V or you will destroy the picaxe chip.

If you want to do that let me know and I will show you what traces to jumper?

You have shown 2 different regulators for this.  628-817B40AY-G and 628-812C40AY-G  Does it matter.

Just to update everyone:

Myself and a few others have been testing the board with no problems and I think I have the final board design finalized. I added a 100k pot and 30k resistor to adjust the pir sensitivity. So far this board is working well with video cameras, normal cameras, and fast hack cameras. I have not tried a dslr yet with it but i feel confident it will work well with it.

For the people that use LANC if there is any interest I will look into incorporating that into the board. Just let me know.

If people are interested in the board. I will put in orders and sell the blank boards to people. I will help with any coding and give out a parts list. Just PM me or post in this topic if interested.
