Long story short....er. Sister from Las Vegas had called and talked to my Aunt Joan who lives in a senior complex and had talked to her. She had said that she went shopping and sat down on the bench and had to have one of the greeters help her to her car. A friend of hers from Philly had called her either Tues. and they had a fight. She (from Philly) tried calling back later and couldn't get her and tried again yesterday morning. She called Dad saying she wouldn't answer. Dad, my sister in Las Vegas and I tried several times during the day and couldn't get her. Dad and I went to the building but need to be buzzed in and was after hours. A resident finally let us in. Knocked on her door and she'd answer me but then say she didn't recognize that name when said it was me. Kept trying and asked if she was okay and she'd say her wrist hurt. Asked again and she said her key was in her purse and again she didn't recognize my name. Went down and called the emergency # for the maintenance man and he finally showed up and said he had to go alone up to her room. About 15 min. later he came down and said she was face down on the floor and he had called the paramedics. She was responding to them and we got to the hospital and they said she had been there for a couple days like that and was dehydrated and UTI so on fluids and antibiotics. She seemed lucid and more so by the time we left. She kept saying she thought she had been in a fight and someone was trying to kidnap her. She didn't know her sister had died 4 months ago and kept saying Mom had talked to her in the hospital even though Mom's never gone to that hospital. So anyways if prayer for her and what results we have to do later. She'll be in the hospital for a few days and then we have to do something for minor care probably.
Thanks.

Not really an update but guess more of a hope? Aunt Joan really should be going to a rehab facility as she can barely stand with help and walking is almost out of the question (just the few feet to the bathroom), doesn't eat as everything "doesn't taste good" plus she still doesn't remember what happened so needs some help there too. Only problem is she wants to go home even though the doctors and social worker strongly advise her against that but to go to a short term rehab facility. But unless a test/evaluation they did/are doing after we left today turns up positive then there is nothing they can do to make her (this is all a Readers Digest Condensed version of it, the problem stuff is left out which needs to be addressed too). Am afraid if she goes to her apartment that she has no real friends and won't have anyone to watch her, help her or even get groceries (know will get help from us but...). So guess prayer is now she sees what will be best for her and accepts it..

Well moved Aunt Joan yesterday from the extended care facility Dad and I had picked out basically hours after finding out she had to be moved to from the hospital to another one that we've had members of church to before plus checking out has a better staff to patient ratio and overall right from the get go seems a lot better (sister was to it first also checking it out before making a decision and really saw a difference too). Withing the first 1/2 hour we found out more from a nurse then we had from the entire time she had been in the other and really more then had at the hospital (but hospital is only a block away if really needed as compared to the 7-8 miles it had been) and it all made since when heard it to explain what we could physically see as problems (open sores on feet) that had been glossed over by the rest. Mentally sometimes seems pretty much 3/4 way with it (sometimes) but mostly lives in the past and then doesn't remember a lot, is some dimensia..to what degree unknown. Afraid this is going to turn into a long term/permanent thing. Good thing is sister took charge (thought would be a bad things but wasn't) and got utilities under control so wasted spending was taken care of. Monday doing the POA stuff and that is going to be another difficult thing as being secondary I'll have to make more of the decisions as brother is primary but works a lot so I'll be more of the contact person. Good thing was Aunt was lucid when asked about DNR and it went along with what we felt she had wanted if she couldn't answer. Dad basically said he wants nothing to do with decisions as he is still trying to come to terms with Moms death and brother works alot of over time and 3 sisters are living Arizona, Colorado and Nevada so the majority now will be little ol me.
Guess more prayers for the understanding of things to be done as well as contunuing to pray for Aunt Joan as now she keeps trying to stand without people being there and has taken numerous falls.
Thanks.
