Just completed this build also. Sony W7 in a Pelican 1040 case w/SSII board externals & pipe thru.
Thought I may have a problem because the snorkel is a tad long but seems to work fine, tested on the grand-kids and dog in the backyard again. W7 takes great pics and flash seems to be adequate, reached to the end of my backyard 30 ft. with good coverage.
Now I only have 8 more projects pending. Trying to do different cams and set-ups to challenge myself, but still keeping things relatively simple compared to what a lot of you guys are into.

Another nice build.
When I look at the smiles on all the children's faces, I just know they're about to jab me with something.

Great looking build. Once you finish the other 8 you will need 8 more. [biggrin]

The w7 is a fast camera but the lens just don`t last.  It does better with a slave to.  Nice build and this hack is not easy.

I am thinking about setting this camera out as daytime only.
Won't get as many pics but save on wear and tear.

So Charles you mentioned the lens not lasting.
Seems the camera stopped taking pictures even when done manually.

Anyone is there a fix for the lens problem??????

So the problem with the W7 and a W5 Sony's was the size of the card.
Neither camera can take over a 2 Gig card. Thought that was a little on the small side but then they are "older" cams.
