I know he was mentioning something about cheaper Chinese(?) ones that basically I think was a small battery inside with a filler/spacer to make it look like one.

The best I've found for the money are LG or Panasonic. They have capacities of around 3400mah and can be found for ~$5 each:

Yeah whatever you do, don't waste your money on the 5000mah Chinese batteries, stick with a quality name brand cell; otherwise, you're better off using AA rechargeables.

I use alot of them and my favorites are Panasonic (green)made in Japan or Orbtronic(a little pricier) Stay away from  anything with the word "fire" in the name. I use both protected batteries in unprotected holders or unprotected batteries in protected holders(my preference....because they fit much better)
