The day/ night circuit acts like a switch.  When it is day light it turns off the external slave and therefore saves battery life.  When it gets dusk it turns the remote slave on .  Just saves a ton of battery life.  No need for it to be on and keeping the flash cap charged and refreshed during the daytime.

Thanks, that's what I figured but being so new just never know.

These are in stock with Amazon now, even Prime eligible. Price increase of about $5 per set, but totally worth it.
