I got these from kdornski (Ken). Thought I would post them since I couldn't find them when I was looking for them. Many thanks to Ken for his assistance!!

These settings will get you started so you can test their effects with your camera. I strongly suggest you review all these settings in the camera's manual for detailed explanations. It sure helped me out!!  You can also use the camera's Intelligent Auto (IA) setting and compare the results.
After powering up the camera push the middle button labeled SET to access the Main Menu. Mode button on top of camera set to "P".

LZ8 and LZ10 Settings
Picture Size---8MP or your preference.
Quality- 3 bars with arrow pointing down in the middle.
Aspect Ratio---4:3
Intelligent ISO ---- I set mine to Max 400 You can set to off if you want. If set to OFF you can use auto ISO.
ISO Sensitivity- Can't be accessed in the "P" mode. Auto if Intelligent ISO is OFF.
White balance ----AWB
Metering Mode--- "Center Weighted" A Parentheses in a square box.  Page 72 in operating  manual.
AF mode- 1-Area Focus (See operating manual page 73) Worked better for my LZ8.
Quick AF---off
Burst ---off
Digital Zoom----off
Color Effect----off
Min. Shutter speed ---1/8 (Not accessible in "P" mode.
AF assist lamp---Off
Stabilizer- MODE 1
Clock- Set your clock.

To access Setup Menu:
Arrow to left and then Arrow down to get into your settings.

Battery type--- NIMH
Monitor--- You can set how you want the brightness on it. I leave it in the middle
LCD Mode----Off
Beep- Off
Volume- 0
Guide line ---Off
Travel date----Off
Economy---Auto LCD Off
Auto review----Off
USB mode---Camera with usb cord
scene menu----Off
Dial display---Off
Format- If you want to erase all pictures on your card
