Got something from Parker today strongly suggesting that all hunters in NY should be contacting their Representatives, Senators and other public officials to support any bill to allow crossbows for hunting in that state. Guess from the polls it is going to be a close vote and come right down to the wire.
Other guys can voice their opinions too to these officials but think they'll only take into account NY residents.

Fellow Crossbow Hunter/Sporting Goods Retailer,

We are heading into the last full week of the budget negotiations. The crossbow issue will most likely go down to the wire to be decided. It is imperative that everyone continues to reach out to the leadership of the Senate and especially the Assembly.

Please make some phone calls this week expressing your desire to have the crossbow proposal, as submitted by the Governor, be included in the final budget.

Your calls have been making a difference, but remember, we are not only needing to counter the anti crossbow archers, but there have been calls coming from the League of Humane Voters, The Humane Society of the United States and the New York State Humane Association and most likely other anti hunting groups are chiming in.

We sit in the best position ever, but we are not home free. Please, even if you already have, make the phone calls, especially to Speaker Silver. If we continue to work together, in just over a week, the DEC will have the authority to begin the process of setting regulations for crossbow use.

You can look up your Legislators contact information online at http://assembly.state.ny.us/mem/?sh=search for the Assembly or http://www.nysenate.gov/ for the Senate. Enter your address and it will show who your legislator is and how to contact them. If you can't find them you can call the main switchboard and ask them to look it up for you. Assembly (518) 455-4100 or Senate (518) 455-2800.

Let's get this done once and for all!

New Yorkers, make sure to contact your higher ups. Got another e-mail from Parker and the guy heading up the fight against crossbows isn't backing down and is getting alot on his side.
Get involved or else don't whine when it's not passed.

Yes, David @ Wyvern Creations post this today.

I received word overnight that the Assembly, led by Assemblyman Sweeney is standing strong in the rejection of the crossbow inclusion.

If you have already called Speaker Silver, Thank You. If you have not, WHY?

One of our members reported he was told by the Speaker's office they have received 1000 calls on this. FYI, this email reaches over 2000 people and I sent out a mailing to over 800 of our members without email late last week. Our emails are forwarded onto countless others and posted on numerous forums and Facebook pages. 1000 calls may seem like a lot, but when you realize how many people we have reached that support crossbows, 1000 is a disheartening number, as many people have called more than once, some have even called daily for over a week.

So what are you waiting for. This will not happen by itself. If we all do not engage, we will lose out on the best chance we have ever had to finally see crossbows as a legal hunting implement.

Please make the call to Speaker Silver, send an email, send a fax, and ask everyone you know to do the same. Please do it today as we are running out of time fast. We need to light up the switchboard in the Assembly NOW!

FYI Update

NYS allowed xbows only during firearms season in 2011 and 2012. Finally they have come to their senses and are allowing xbows during any firearm season for big and small game. They will also be allowed during the last 14 days of southern zone archery season and last 10 days of northern zone archery.
