Okay fella's it's finally done !!! Bill had left on a job to NH last week and left a build on the bench that I assumed he was planning on doing when he returned. I was in dire need to do something constructive(haha) so I took it upon myself to do the build because as I got thinking he would probably end up screwing it up anyway. The build was going great up till I was ready to wire everything up. I knew the 503 is a wacky hack to begin with meaning the the 503 uses the positive battery tab as the common or pin#4 which ever you prefer, pin#6 for the on/off and pin#7 for the shutter. Okay so I was assuming wiring the camera to the board was as normal so I wired it up and went to test it and it would not shutter a pic. Hmmmm I thought maybe the wire isn't making a good enough contact with the terminal block. Okay still will not shutter a pic,Hmmmmmm recheck all wiring again still nothing...frustrated I walked away. Later that night I caught my sweetheart(Ralph) on chat and told him of my dilemma and Ken had told me that Bill had this written down in his notes. So in the mean time i'm looking thru Bill's notes and came up short. Looked thru all his notes and nothing on the 503 wiring positions. So I returned to the chat okay now mind you there are 5 people total yacking at the same time. So I had missed the reply Ralph had wrote telling me the correct wiring positions. So yes it's very hard to keep up and read everything when there are 5 people chatting at the same time, you are going to miss some things. Chat ended that night and next day comes and wake to the problem still at hand. I got to thinking Joe(zaj56) did an exact build so I pulled up his post and looked at how he had his wired and sure enough he had the shutter wire in the shutter common position. I'm like can that be right??? What the heck I tried it and wouldn't you know camera shutters pics. Texted Ralph and he said yep that's right and he proceeded to tell me that he wrote it down on chat BUT I had missed it. Now mind you I never doubted Ralph nor never will for that matter but I had to prove to myself that I had actually missed it so I went back and checked the chat and yep there it was RED TO (P), BLACK TO (PC), AND SHUTTER WIRE TO (SC) SHUTTER COMMON!!!! Then after all that I had talked to Bill and he said to look under the laptop. Hmmmm okay so I did and wouldn't you know it there was the note for the wiring positions. Okay now bad words are coming out of my mouth(haha). He still lives BUT he will never forget!!!!!!!! Okay moving forward here, I went to test the cam and now the exchanger will not switch. Ralph told me I may have to reverse the wires so I did and still won't switch. Texted Ralph back again and he said I bet you when you gooped the exchanger in there is a little goop on the edge stopping it from switching. Now mind you this is the first exchanger mod Bill and I did together.... I pulled the front cover off and yep that's exactly what it was, Ralph was right again as usual !!!! Thank you sweetie for always being there for me!!!!
Okay the build: A503 with exchanger mod and small cap mod. RCDavis SMT Camera Controller, Flash BackPacker, Exchanger BackPacker, 3700 Slave, 10" MCM case, 4 AA for Slave Power, 3 AA for Camera Board Power, 9 Volt for Exchanger Power, arrow shaft for pipe thru, HPWA, and Joe's mount.
Love Rena

That build is top notch Rena!  What did you use to cover the slave and pipe-thru?  Pretty cool

Thank You Joe, I use plastic gallon vinegar jugs. Cut the middle part out and slice it in half. Gives me enough plastic to  do 3 or 4 builds. Measure out what I need and use heat gun and mold the bend in it and cover it with 1/16" foam. Makes it look really nice and neat.I'm very picky on appearance as you can tell. Hope that helps you Joe !!! Also I cut little pieces of scrap aluminum to  goop on the sides for it to set on and goop it down. Just something I thought up all on my own. Boy You can tell I had a few cold ones huh edit 4 times hahahaha !!!!

Thank you hunny, I'm sorry to. It was just at the heat of the moment and the frustration had kicked in, and you not being here didn't help matters either. Yes I do agree with you tougher builds that make me think will make me a better builder. It was just an all out bad week for me and I didn't mean to take it out on you. So with that being said I truly am sorry, I know you didn't mean it and would never do anything like that intentionally. And yes I will stop bashing you on THIS matter for I do not want to give you a "COMPLEX".... I said I would stop but I can't speak for the other guy's hahaha. And yes babe I love you too [kiss] !!!
